![]() ![]() For an accurate result, the path tracer would have to be able to cast multiple rays (coming from the camera) that bounce across the entire scene at random directions, get the sufficient information, and head right back towards the camera in order to generate the final image. It provides global illumination, accurate shadows, and better ambient occlusion, although because of its screen-space nature, it can only calculate what is on-screen, which can hinder the accuracy of the algorithm. Version 4.0 has screen-space path tracing, which should hopefully get the job done.
